Antique kilim and rug fragments and half kilims This album contains collectible kilims and rugs of which only a part has survived or are in worn condition, sometimes backed on fabric. You will also find half kilims which are one of the two panels originally intended to make up a whole kilim. Sometimes half kilims, woven as dowry pieces by one side of the family, were never joined to another half and remain unused, thus their fine condition. Sometimes they became separated from the other half and were inherited by different family members and occasionally were woven as a single panel for a divan cover.
