Late 19th Century Ottoman Kutnu Silk Robe


Circa 1880-1910 Ottoman silk robe made from Kutnu silk fabric, probably woven in Aleppo in Syria from where it would have been exported to other Ottoman countries. The fabric pattern is called ‘Mejidiyeh qutnu’ from the Arabic word qutni. The robe is in very good overall condition with some marks on the sleeves and minor wear to small areas of the silk weft appropriate to its age and use.
