RUNNERS and HALF KILIMS

This album includes long kilims and also half kilms, that were woven as one panel of a pair making up a complete kilim. They are sometimes the result of an inhertiance where the two halves were divided between family members. They are also sometimes the only panel woven by a grandparent or great grandparent and, remaining unusued, have been kept by successive generations in a dowry chest. Some long narrow kilims were also used as divan covers. Antique examples are collectible and can represent some of the best weaving. They are often very good value when compared to an equivalent complete kilim.
