Old yoruk nomad Hatay zili embroidered kilim No 1841


Finely woven rare old long, narrow zili embroidered kilim from the 1920s made by Horzumlu-Aydinli yoruk nomads from Hatay with summer pastrures in the Soganli Mountains in Kayseri province. Wool on a red madder flatweave foundation. Probably woven as a cover to lay across the top of bedding and textiles. Fine zili work, an excellent dye palette, dynamic drawing and colour contrast. 330cm x 50cm. No 1841. €495
